Pictures

I've been semi-obsessed today with turning favorite photos black-and-white and seeing the results. A few random ones (click on them, please, I like them much better full-screen than in these little boxes):

Good on ya!!!!!

The B-girl overlooking the ocean, and the Toddler walking the dock are my faves. I love vistas, my friend.

And I am not referencing software.

These photos are classic--timeless! I would recommend framing them. Sometimes the goodwill has frames for less than a dollar.

They're absolutely beautiful! May I ask what kind of camera you're using? What brand and model?

Aimee, it is a digital camera, a Canon PowerShot SD800 IS (digital ELPH). We've been really happy with it for most things, but if the light is *just right* it has trouble deciding whether to flash or not and just doesn't take the picture! It has only happened a handful of times but MAN is that annoying.

Can you turn the flash off? A lot of times if it can't figure out the lighting, you can switch it from auto mode to evening or night mode, but you have to be very still while taking the shot so it doesn't turn out blurry.

Kudos to you, though. Those shots are the stuff of professionals!

the third one of B and the one of T on the rocks are my favorites!

Thanks Aimee :). I'm rather happy with the way a lot of my pictures turned out from our vacation. Of course it doesn't hurt that I had like 700 photos to choose from!

I'll have to check and see whether my camera has an evening mode. I know Fran does all kinds of wild stuff with the settings, but I really don't understand what it is he's tweaking, and when he's not around I just kind of have to trust the defaults and auto-settings.

The night mode usually has an icon that looks like one of those figures they use for restroom signs, with a star or a crescent moon behind it. Anyway, you're doing really well!!

sorry to comment this topic to death, but i also wanted to say that even professionals only get a handful of great shots out of hundreds taken!

No way Aimee, I'm seriously enjoying someone else enjoying my pictures ;).
